Totally different benchmarks

Hey there,

Yesterday i gave myself a nexus S. Offcoure i immediately run de quadrant standard from the market, but the results are totally different. I did a few runs and my scores are between the 1200 and the 1850. How is this possible?

Is something defect? GPU, CPU or Memory?

Please let me know so i can exchange my device if necessary.

I haven't run one for a while, but for some reason the first result was never as good as if I retested again straight after.

It will be affected by whatever else is using resources in the background so I imagine you will never get the same result each time.

Thnx for your reply!

That sounds logical, but the first time was 1400 later 1600 then 1200 than 1800, and now 1400 again. Its a huge different.

Is the quadrant standard not precise? Or do you think something is defect in my nexus S? GPU CPU or something else.

The battery is also at MAX charged 94 percent.

Probably some one else knows better than me but I would allow for some variance.

As for the battery it's normal for it not to be 100% when stated as fully charged. It's the battery management not over doing it and prolonging the life of the battery.

Oke thnx,

But i dont get it because the specs of the phone is the same, so totally different results are weird. As you see lowest is 1400 and highest is 1800, thats 30%.

Test:

Okay, 5 times straight after.
Exact the same settings, without killing apps etc.

1440
1695
1851
1823
1829

..close app..
..open app..

1623
1642
1787

Weird ha?

Maby its because of the memory, the app saves some numbers or something. But the scores on the internet are also not reliable, because you never know the number of retesting.

Thnx alot that you do some tests for me, now i know its normal, or we both have a defect haha. Kidding.

If some people know more about this, please let me know.

It would be interesting to see an explanation from someone in the know.

It must be a resources thing...

You can see how much difference software makes when you compare Nexus One and Nexus One 2.2... same hardware!

Its all about how much memory is being used and what the processor is doing beside running the test. That is why you see most testers shut down everything that is unessential before running the scores

The reason for the lower score during the first run is because you likely have some apps open and running in the background. As the benchmark runs, it slowly asks for more resources, which take a small amount of time to get by killing the other apps in the background. By the time you do your second run, all of those resources have been freed during the first run, hence the better score.
