Help Touch acting in Mirror image

Very curious problem.

My htc desire z has suddenly decided that when I tap something it does what is other side of the screen.

For instance if I tap the home key it opens the search. The menu key performs the back function. The back function perform the menu function. The Search is Home.

I have my security set up that it uses a pattern. If click the lower right of the screen it is shown that I have clicked the bottom left.

Any ideas how this happened and how I sort it?

Thanks

That's worrying if I'm the only one that has every come across this. I think a call to HTC is required in that case. Thanks to all who took a look anyway. Internet unusable as I can't click links.

I've had a look around my usual haunts on the interwebz and couldn't find anything, sorry. To my mind it sounds as if the digitiser may have developed a fault, which should be a straightforward warranty repair/replacement.

Slug thanks for getting back to me.

I had turned the phone numerous times to try and clear the fault and it didn't clear however the support centre suggested a hard reset which involved taking the memory card and sim card (so the data on them wouldn't be erased). My misreading of the instructions on how to do it had me turn the phone again whilst holding the volume button (rather than doing as I had been instructed and that was to hold down the volume key and then hit the power on button briefly). Anyway to get to the end of the story when I mistakingly started the phone I noticed that the pattern lock started representing things right on the display. Replaced the memory card and sim card and all is working again.

It must have just required the battery to be removed or that plus the cards removed and rebooted. Just glad it was so easily sorted.

Hopefully if someone else gets this they'll be able to resolve it so easily.

This worked for me too thanks obviously a programming bug somewhere.
