Help Touch Input

Hi,

I have an issue with my HTC Desire S. I have all the latest updates, have performed a factory reset and also remove the SD card and all third party apps. Still the issue remains, I have listed some below:
1. Phone registers input even though noting is pressed. Example: Unlock my phone, wait 2 seconds and the phone will register input on the 'phone' icon on the screen and proceed to call someone.

2. When typing the phone automatically presses some buttons and will continue to do so for a few moments.Example: typing a message the phone will start registering backspace inputs and changing the language or adding extra characters. Occurs even when I put the phone down and do not touch it(It's a ghost phone !!!)

3. All buttons (menu, back, home) on the phone do not respond. These come back to life after a few minutes.

These issue occur intermittently and there seems no way of predicting when they will occur.Anybody have any ideas?

With screen problems first make sure the screen is clean and you're not using any screen/phone protector which might interfere with input. Also make sure your phone doesn't have any moisture in it.

As you've done a factory reset, which is what your service provider/HTC would advise, I don't think you have any other options left, unless you want to explore installing another ROM to see if that clears the problem, although that could invalidate your warranty.

Your issue could be hardware related, in which case there's not much you can do other than to send it in to be repaired.

Hi,
Ya I had a screen protector and case. removed all these as well. Don't really fancy sending it for repair as I had another issue and sent it for repair (they replaced the motherboard) and it took a month to get back to me. Installing another ROM? any links to this? Don't really care about warranty as if I can't fix it I won't be sending it for repair. Thanks for the reply

If you get stuck, start a new thread in that sub-forum, and someone will notice and try and help you out.
