Touch responsiveness

I'm pretty used to my Desire after 8 months owning it, but whenever I borrow my wife's iPod Touch I'm always impressed by how much more responsive the screen is. Even though I use my HTC all the time, I can actually type more accurately on the iPod even though I only do it once a month!

The other thing -- and I'm not sure if this is an HTC or general Android thing -- is that I very often press something on the screen (such as an icon in the launcher) and, even though the color changes so I know that it saw my touch, it does nothing. This happens in all situations -- icons, list items, buttons, browser links, etc.

Maybe it's too short of a tap, but if I try to hold it a bit longer, I'm likely to get the long-press menu or whatever. In any case, it is very inconsistent and annoying. Anyone else had this issue?

I find that sometimes my short press is too short but thats about it.

In regards to the keyboard, did you calibrate it.

I've noticed some apps are more sensitive than others. For example, Buzzbox (a newsreader) is among the fastest, most sensitive apps I've used. Scrolling is like using a mouse, it's that responsive. But then other apps (or scrolling through the programs drawer) are more laggy. Not sure why.
