Help Touch Screen Goes Crazy!

I have noticed that every so often, the touchscreen on my phone will go a little crazy. For instance, on the keyboard, it will randomly start typing "vvvvcvccvvbbvbbvvccv" and so on and so forth. It is that general area of the screen. Eventually it will stop, but the 4 main buttons on the bottom will become unresponsive. Then I lock my phone and then unlock it and it works fine for a bit, but starts going crazy again. Any thoughts?

Note: I originally thought it was because of my Zagg, but after taking it off, it still goes crazy. So it can't be my screen protector doing it.

You might have a defective touch screen, best thing to do would be exchanging the phone for a different one.

I have found the same thing with my phone but have figured out its the proximity/light sensor thingy. Whenever i use my phone under fluorescent lights that are close to the phone (desk lamp thing) i get that same behavior, Plays hell with Swype. If i move it out from under said lighting or tip the phone so sensor is shadowed, its fine. Still a pita tho.

Sounds like either a defective screen or water damage.
