Hi,
I've had a trawl back over old posts in the Desire forum and cant see the same problem as I've got so thought I'd start a new thread.
I've had my Desire for about a year now and 6 months ago it started playing up in the following way:
When I hold the phone with my hand around the case the touch screen works fine. However when I place the phone on a flat surface and just try to use it without touching any other part of the phone it wont work.
Sometimes the whole screen stops working even when I'm holding it and sometimes it's just the lower half that fails. If i chuck it in my pocket for half an hour it normally recovers.
It's under warranty and has been back to HTC for repair twice now. 1st time they just flashed the ROM and posted it straight back, just received it back from the 2nd time and waiting to hear back what they did (or more likely did not do).
There's no screen protectors on it and it's never been dropped on anything other than carpet.
So while I wait for HTC to respond I thought I'd get the thoughts of the experts! My instict is that it would be the digitizer at fault but I dont want to go down this route until I totally loose patience with HTC.
Many thanks in advance of anyone reading this.
Marcus
