touchscreen disabling?

Many times when reading or watching video on a tablet I will mistakenly touch the screen and send things into a tizzy. I will end up at a totally different website or another place on YouTube,etc.. This has me wondering if anyone has made an app to enable/disable touch input at will or disable links and just allow the scrolling feature to work (when reading web pages, for example). To be able to toggle this function in particular would be really helpful. Anyone ever seen an app for doing this sort of thing?

Perhaps a very small floating always on top screen widget style toggle that when pressed would not allow any touch input over the rest of the screen until it was toggled to the off position (by pressing it again). Another idea would be to tie it to one of the physical buttons on the tablet. As i said before web page reading would be much nicer if you could selectively turn off link triggering but maintain the ability to scroll. It sounds as though you haven't heard of such a thing. I was hoping that someone had made an android program for this already. Too bad I can't do such things.

Nothing I've heard of, however are you actually touching the link, or touching another part of the screen but the link still opens?

Actually touching the link.Easy to do on a dense website with lots of links on a smallish screen. Also easy to get careless when watching Youtube or movies while holding the thing. There's a lot of Android programs out there.I can't believe I've come up with an original idea.

Lol i think you might have :D
Im just not sure if it would require root permissions to work.
There are video player apps with touch-lock but ive never seen an app that can make that feature be universal across other apps.
im no expert on how permissions work.. maybe it wouldnt require root and could just work as an overlay.
Ill be interested to see what people suggest :)

Some web pages have a lot of small pictures that are actually links to other pages.I seem to be hitting those unexpectedly. Also there are the hypertext type that can be easy to hit when your simply trying to scroll.Youtube links are really annoying as you will lose your place in a video.I don't always do the full screen thing.

It would be nice to have an on screen floating button that would kill all links but still allow you to scroll and pinch to zoom. You could be alot more casual handling your tablet while reading a long scrolling web page or watching the various online video sites.Maybe that's a feature google could bake into future versions of their os.
