Root Touchscreen Not Responding!

TalonD

Lurker
Okayy, I installed the MIUI Rom about a week ago and everything was going great! I didn't install any weird apps or configure anything really, and all of a sudden the touch screen randomly stopped responding! I can turn the phone on and off by using the power button, but still the touch screen isn't working. Even the Menu,Back,Search, and the other button aren't responding. Please respond if you can help me!

If you can boot into cwm, make a backup, revert to stock, and see if it works.

Yeah, my first Triumph had a bad touchscreen right out of the box. Virgin Mobile seemed well aware of the problem.

So I have to get a WHOLE new phone?!

No... You don't get a battery or battery cover. But on a serious note, yes you would get a "new" (well refurbed, unless you bought it directly from VM within the last 30 days). It sounds like it is a hardware problem, but may be software. If you want a different CWM that uses the power button then I can pull up the link to that if you want to try, but it can't flash Miui, so maybe go back to stock or cm7 to see if the screen works.

Actually, he could get a new phone depending on a bunch of circumstances.

Some people have noted that if they went through VM for their warranty, they were sent new in the box phones as replacements--so he could be one of the lucky few--although I wouldn't get my hopes up regarding this.

Alternatively, if he had bought his phone from BB and got the BB service plan, he could go into the store and exchange it for a new one under the plan--he may or may not have to pay a couple of dollars to buy a new plan depending on how they process the exchange.

Ahh.. Ok well I guess I will just try to find a refurbished one online.. If there's no possible way to fix this, then could I get it fixed by VM or get a new one free for a better price than buying a new one?

The refurbs from VM are free.

Yeah, same thing happened to me on a Triumph purchased from Best Buy about 6 months after I bought it. Called VM and they sent me a "new" one the next day.
