Root Touchscreen not working

Just bought a used Evo and now that I am using it I have noticed that the touchscreen is sometimes having trouble.

When I pull up the list of ringtones, as I pull down the list, it won't let me choose one of them, it changes as it moves, sometimes it is one towards the top, sometimes toward the bottom.

Also certain times when it pops up a window and asks ok or cancel, it won't let me choose either. I have to use the back button.

I have seen other people talk about this issue, saw someone on Youtube with it, but haven't really seen any way to solve it.

I have done the calibration and tried a hard reset. What are the possible issues that could be causing this? How do I narrow down what it could be?

I am facing exactly the same issue with EVO 4G LTE, can you or someone tell me how you resolved it?
Please help....

Welcome to AF!! :)
It doesn't look like it has been resolved, but your post may be better suited over in the LTE forums, but, have you tried a factory reset? Just be aware doing so, you will lose your apps and contacts if not backed up to google.

Well, thats not possible. I am from India and purchased this from US. So no warranty or store here will be able to sort out the issue.

I ran into an extremely similar issue. My issue was that I flashed the wrong kernel. Or I failed to. I thought I successfully flashed the kernel, but I didn't. I just re-flashed the kernel through fastboot and everything was okay. If you want to try that check this out: http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-lte-all-things-root/606748-how-install-kernels-h-boot-1-15-a.html
Sorry for replying late as I was away.
I am now going to install the kernel and observe for couple of days. Will come back with the results.
Can you suggest the best kernel with AOSP CM10 as I am inclined towards using the pure Android.

If you're using the latest CM10 you have to use the kernel that comes with it. Komodo is for Android 4.1.1 and CM10 is up to Android 4.2.1. Still Jelly Bean though.

Do you mean 4.1.2?

I don't believe were on 4.2 yet( unless it was today)

Komodo should work perfectly fine

Yeah I meant 4.1.2. When I tried to use Komodo when CM10 first used 4.1.2 Jelly Bean it gave me many issues. I don't remember what issues aside from no Wi-Fi. Komodo may have been updated since then. I'm not sure though.

Yeah it didnt work on the new base. I've been running the two just fine together since komodo was updated

Everything working smoothly for last couple of days on CM10, I used the boot image came with the CM10 ROM and now no more touch screen problem!
A zillion thanks to all of you and to this great community.
