Root touchwiz (: should i make this into a flashable zip?

As I understand, he was/is going to put this modification into ROM form not just a flashable zip; and he was going to use midnight jellybean as a base, so I just stated he could use aokp as a base too if he wanted(no offence to the maker of midnight jellybean). Also, just wanted to state that I like how you're also over here at AF and not just at xda & that you also help out Evo V 4G users and not just Evo 3D users. Much love brother ;)
Since mazda will be releasing his 4.2.1 version of AOKP soon he would have to work with him on an ongoing basis to incorporate fixes to that ROM base or figure them out himself. Or he could go with the 3.5.2 version based on 4.1.2 which is pretty solid and likely to be stabilized at this point, but might not be as desirable to users wanting the latest and greatest.

The other option is to handle it as a mod the way selkie707 has done with AC!D audio and then it would be more likely to be used on other ROM's.

Of course, he could do both the way coolexe supported audio and camera mods in his ROM and as flashable zips, but that's a lot to keep up with. It's up to teddytales66, but I was just thinking that introducing it as a mod might be easier for him.

And thanks for the postive feedback. ;)

I would prefer also making one with Midnight Rom JB, because that one is tweaked for VM.

I think mazda is pretty good about supporting other carriers and he's on boost mobile himself so he has some empathy for non-Sprint users. His AOKP ROM has been working well for VM users with the MMS fix applied, but it wouldn't hurt to have multiple options if teddytales66 is willing to share his mods.

Another reason to go with mazda's AOKP is that he's already released a test build of the 4.2.1 version and the midnight developer doesn't have a working PC anymore to do that update.

You could just upload the nandroid as a zip.

OBviously, don't put your google information in ;)

Then tell people to extract it to their backup folder and wipe > restore.

Just make sure you inform us what recovery it was made with, so we know what we can/can't use.

Btw is there a way to convert a nandroid to a flashable zip? if so this would speed up the process
Yes I believe the kitchen has a function to do that. I'll look it up for you.

Edit1: Here's the kitchen. I haven't used it myself but I know it has that capability.

Edit2: Here's a post with some general instructions. I'm trying to find something that's more step-by-step.

Edit3: Here's a video tutorial on setting up the kitchen.

I might have found an easier way to create an installation zip file from a running ROM (no guaranty).

Download Clockworkmod Touch Recovery 6.0.1.4 from this post.

Place that recovery file in your ADB/fastboot directory then boot it in fastboot mode with the following command:

fastboot boot "recovery-Clockworkmod_Recovery_Touch 6.0.1.4.img"

After the recovery boots go into "Backup and Restore" and select the "create image zip" option.

I'm still in the process of testing it but that's supposed to create a flashable zip of you current ROM, albeit with whatever user specific settings are in place, so as prinny said you need to make sure to do this on a fresh ROM flash immediately after installing your mods.

I've never used this before but I'm trying it now and will provide some feedback after my testing is complete.

Edit1: It's taking forever to backup the system partition so I think this might be a bust. :(

Edit2: Here's the principle but I think it still needs some work. I've never really had good luck with CWM on the Evo 3D.

I manually applied some of this to Midnight Jellybean... and also to Midnight 1.49 (not the task manager in the latter case lol) seems to work well, would love the weather app from touchwiz if its part of this

I hope this happens. I'm running midnight jb with a Touchwiz theme but i want a better experience, and this looks like the way to go!

This looks pretty interesting, if you want i can help you make the rom. I have made roms before for the Nexus 7, Kindle Fire, VZW Galaxy Nexus, and S2. If your interested just pm me your Gmail or something that we can chat on and we can get this rom Working :)

BTW if you want to see my work my username is the same for XDA, just search me and you will find all my roms.

actually its okay (: thanks tho but i found a simple way to port it (: i used the android kitchen you provided & i have made a zip with out a nandroid (:all the stuff stays together the ui , ui sound, task manager, svoice the only problem is that mazda told me i cant use his rom :/

that means we might use midnightrom but im still waiting for the creator of midnights permission after that i can upload it for download

Edit* the creator of midnight rom has given me permission to use his rom (:
