Trackball Doesn't Scroll Down

I had the same problem, trackball wouldn't scroll down. I stumbled upon this video in a thread over at XDA. It sounds stupid, but worked like a charm. My trackball works like new, and it is very simple. The video is actually for a blackberry trackball, but it worked for my eris.

Try it, can't hurt and might save the trouble of getting a replacement.

I have the same issue with my phone but since my warranty is void I cannot get a replacement. One trick that I noticed that works is if you press slightly near the track ball, it seems to work.

Not too sure if it will work for you....wish I could get a replacement!

just got off the phone with vzw. sending me a phone on tuesday. my trackball will not scroll down. it worked beautifully when i got it, then noticed the issue about 2 weeks ago where it would just stop scrolling down. i jiggled the usb cable, which helped for a time being. tried the blackberry trick, didn't work, and also tried cleaning it.

What do you need the track ball for?
I never use mine unless flashing a rom or something in the recovery image.
