Trackball notification time limit

Hi guys, I just got my new HTC Hero and I'm still getting to know it at the moment... However I do have a little frustration with it. The trackball will light up and everything when I get a missed call or email or sms etc. and it will keep it up only for some 10 minutes. Any idea how or if it can be set up to light up indefinitely (that is, until i clear the notifications)? Thanks!

Anybody? I saw that handcent sms has an option to indefinitely re-activate the notification, about to give that a try... However I'd like to find a solution that works for all notifications, not just SMS...
