Help Trackball to 'wake' phone from standby

you can use LockBot and use the trackball to wake up the screen, just found it and it works good
 
So that is the app it wakes up the phone... so the title of this thread is missleading because the app does it and not the original software. FIX IT!!!
 
WOW, the title says EXACTLY what this thread is about, how to get the trackball to wake up the phone, nowhere in the thread title does it say "no app necessary" or "firmware trackball wake up"
 
That's the problem .. I opened this thread cause the topic title suggested another software glitch.. a proper title would be "Can trackball be used to wake the phone"
 
and it took you a whole 10 seconds to scan for the answer and see that while it not currently possible to have the firmware do it, there are other options. if you dont want other options just move along to the next thread. you have wasted more time replying with BS answers and have contributed NOTHING, move along JAGOFF

i do, much better, and i now have a working trackball to wake up my phone, its a great start to the day
 
So, anyway, myLock alpha 3 does in fact let you wake the phone with the trackball. Nice, in case you're afraid that you'll wear out the power button. Seems somewhat glitchy, though, since when you wake it up that way it shows a "lock screen... please wait" text.
 
Nice :D now good luck with a phone that will be awake and use the battery much more that it did before because of the accidental pushes of trackball.

sorry i dont wear skinny jeans nor do i keep my phone in my back pocket so this will not and has not been an issue, good luck finding your solution.
 
you failed to say how do you transport it around? in the pouch that came with the phone maybe? anyway by statistics alone you're going to press the trackball multiple times a day not knowing it. Anyway who cares.. it's minor power etc... gl with it
 
i keep it either on my desk at work, in my front shirt pocket, or my inside jacket pocket which are both loose so an accidental touch would have to hit me pretty good to push the phone up against my body enough to push the trackball in. even when skiing and keeping it in my jacket it has not happened. hopefully they will update the firmware but until then lockbot pro works fine
 
I think the please wait screen is the program running a macro to simulate your slide. hopefully that will go away once it leaves alpha. and for those who doubt I carry my phone loose. in fairly tight pants. either I'm not clicking the trackball by accident or my battery has grown since installation.
 
Oh good, I thought I'd interrupted the app when I hit the home button to get rid of that "please wait" placeholder.

Count me as another person whose phone lies on a desk a lot. Accidental pushes: the least of my concerns.
 
just a quick question for those of you who have installed this (and uninstalled)...

it didn't quite do what i was looking for and actually seemed like it ended up messing with my screen timeout settings. at first, the screen would time out within about 3 seconds of the phone being idle. so i uninstall and it still did the same thing, wen't to the phones settings and set it back to 2 mins. sometimes i catch it not falling asleep at all and being in my pocket using up mucho battery. anyone else had this issue?

i can't quite pinpoint whether it was due to this application or the OTA update since i did them both at about the same time.
 
The app ICE (In Case of Emergency) will wake up the phone using the trackball, volume keys or power switch if you set it to be the lock screen.

Do you know how to repair/change the power button yourself without sending to customer service ?

I don't mind to pay but i don't want to stay even one day without my phone !

ps: also, do you know any application that will let met simulate the power button to restart or choose airplane mode ? I use Cyanogen mod FROYO
