What do you guys use the trackball for? I have had the eris for about a week now and honestly, have not touched it once..

Just curious as I want to use this great phone to its full potential.

thanks

I use it sometimes to move app icons to different home screen locations.
I just hold down the icon to select it, and then scroll to the page I want to drop it on.
It works better, IMO, then dragging it with the touch screen.

I use it for text editting, and for small or crowded links on web pages. Some games, scrolling thru homescreens and menus, or just whenever I don't want to smudge my screen.

YUP

small/crowded links and especially for copy and pasting

ok....i have been wondering for a while....and call me lazy since i haven't looked it up on my own....... but how do you copy and paste with it....it was easy on my blackberry so i am sure it would be on the Eris too

In a text field long press, or press and hold, and a dialog will come up asking to copy.

Press copy

roll your trackball to where you want to start and press it to start, then roll it to when you want to end and press again to stop and copy to clipboard.

I use it for selecting text to copy/paste, moving the text cursor to a specific location if I want to add/delete something, selecting links on some webpages, some games, and taking pictures with the camera.

It also switches your home screens left and right, if you don't feel like swiping.

Thanks for the tip on the icon moving... sometimes it drives me nuts when I drag it to the edge of the screen and the screen doesn't change ;)

It's beginning to become obvious to me that some of you are far more active with your Eris devices than I am. :o :D

I've found that as I go on I use it more and more. I put a screen protector on mine and it's awful as far as finger prints go. So I try and use the ball to keep the screen cleaner longer. So by that it's starting to become more and more useful to me.
