Trade Roethlisberger for Kenny Britt?

My friend who lost Romo over the weekend offered me Kenny Britt for big Ben (my back up to Peyton Manning). Is this a good deal? I'm in an ESPN standard scoring league and I really need more depth at wide reciever (currently have Driver, Roy Williams, Roddy White, and Dez Bryant).

Yeah I worry about losing Peyton to an injury but in a 10 team league I feel like there are enough QBs to play the waiver wire week to week if that happens. Britt is a gamble I could probably afford to play but again....a gamble. Also, I got Rice coming up the pipe in 3 or 4 weeks too but who knows how long he'll last.

EDIT: I was thinking about counter offering Joe Addai and Ben for Britt and Calvin Johnson. Thoughts?

Anybody with half a brain knows that Addai isn't worth a anything right now. Your going to have to offer a little more for Calvin Johnson. Does he even need a RB?

He's got best and Lynch and I wouldn't trust Lynch and Addai (in a week or two) will be at least as good as Best who has been much more hit than miss the last 5 weeks.

If you dont give him Big Ben who does he have at QB? Sometimes you win in FF by not making trades that benefit your opponent more than you. If he has someone like Henne or Campbell or worse now I would not pull the trigger. Britt's trade value is inflated now after that monster week. In perspective though that was Britt's only game this season with 100+yards receiving and while he's scored a TD 5 weeks in a row thats likely to end real soon. I mean the Titans are who we thought they are. Britt is not an automatic start over any of the WR's you got now. I mean clearly White is your #1 and after that its really a coin flip between the other guys + Britt. Your two DAL guys might be down grades now with Kitna. But honestly Kitna is as capable of producing fantasy passing stats as whoever Tenn has at QB.
So if he's hurting at QB, I'd keep him down. Giving him Big Ben will benefit him more than getting Britt will benefit you

That may be the case but he's not worth Calvin Johnson. Addai is one more injury away from his season ending, Donald Brown and Mike Hart will both be carrying the load. I'm just sayin that if the guy your trading has any football knowledge he will not do the trade. You could try it but I doubt he would go for that, especially in a 10 team legue.

If you're in a 10 team league there should be plenty of alternative options available on the FA wire. I'd counter the trade like you suggested and weight it heavily in your favor, see if he bites. If not, no sweat, keep Ben on your roster and pick up a Nate Burleson or a David Gettis in Carolina. There should be plenty of super sleepers to choose from in a 10 team league.

I dont really see much wrong with your WR depth. How many can you play a week? But anyways what are his other WR? I think like Saps said Britt is in sell high status now and if he is playoff competition you should just let him suffer it out.

Yeah it might sound cruel but whatever to that. I dont know if you guys play for pay. But my yahoo league is. Its a 12 man private with the guys I work with, and a few stragglers. $100 buy-in league, so $900 for winning and $300 for the runner-up. So to say we're a bit cut throat is needless. I oughta know I had Brady at QB the year he went down and the best I could do the rest of the year was get Jason Campbell. In a 12 man league guys just stockpile and trades are rare and generally only amongst bottom feeders.
Its also a copy cat league so if everyone else is hording QB's you kinda have to follow suit. Obviously we all have 2 but half of us have three and one MF'er has 5 and he's totally hording. He's got Schaub, Kolb, Vick, Collins and Freeman. We all know what he's doing and why and honestly there is no one on the market worth a damn. Only saving grace for us is he's got poop for RB's, [Portis, Barber and Cadillac] and no back up WR/TE.

Anyway, some league are more laid back and thats fine, but some especially when cash is involved are no laughing matter

I think even without cash its fun to just win by any means, no hard feelings in the end. I think hording is dumb tho, not in a strategical sense but for the hoarder. Is that guy even a playoff contender with a rb core of Portis Barber and Williams? LoL that is atrocious.

I traded Ben and Dez Bryant for Britt and Knox. I may be shooting myself in the foot but I need the players for my bye next week and if anything I'll have the depth to trade for another good QB (or pick one up on the wire) should I need to. We'll see how it all pans out...

Dunno if that was such a great trade =/ but best of luck to you!

I know exactly what you mean, we have a $50 12 team office league that's downright cutthroat.

You should have stayed pat, that's a bad trade

Yeah well with fantasy football you can't judge how it will work out based on how it looks on paper. Look at last week when I asked for advice and everyone (including you Acid) told me to stay away from McFadden and play Driver. Of course I went with my gut (and the match-ups) and it paid off. I'm not saying my gut calls are always right but this deal isn't the complete turdfest you all seem to think it is and the worst case scenario is that it makes his team slightly better (Ben won't be much better than Romo was) and my new players add nothing to my team.

Kenny Britt is one of the top 10 most consistent WR in the NFL (and his two bad games were the 1st 2!). I'm not saying he's the next Roddy White but H2H FF seasons are won not by the best teams but by the most consistent. My rear has been saved this year by players like White, P. Manning, Mcfadden, Bironas, etc. because they consistently put out decent scores. Not the highest scores weekly, but decent scores. C. Johnson is great when he puts up 20 point games but I can't count on it when it's every other game. I have to consider him icing on the cake. Anyways thanks for the advice. I always like to hear opinions even if they don't agree with mine.

He's 3-4. He did have Ryan Grant to start the year but that was done week 1. So he had to patch work since everyone else stockpiles RB's in our league. I mean hell I have 4 in part because they're gold and in part to horde. I do get trade offers but at 4-3 myself I cannot risk strengthening my competition. So I have to horde. I mean I got Chris Johnson, Torian, Jones and Charles. I mean I'd be insane to release any of those guys or trade them for anyone. I could use a boost at WR but I'm not trading any of those RB's for the offers I've gotten. Here's the offers I've gotten and rejected for either of my Chiefs: Shipley, Collie [pre injury], Bess, Mason. I mean geez. Our draft is key and then the lucky quick pick up when there's an injury. I mean thats how I got Torian

Rb holding is good. But qb not so much lol. Esp since in most leagues you can only play one a week.

As far as the trade goes, you can judge it for how it looks on paper cause that's all you have till something happens. dez>Knox, and Ben for britt iffy for reasons stated above. It could defiantly work in your favor over time. but him being he person in need of a qb, he should have been at your mercy .

I agree that healthy Dez + Romo is > Knox. That being said, his ankle may be slightly injured and he is now under Kitna who has Witten, Austin and his old favorite Williams that Dez has to compete with. Yeah I could have strong armed him for a slightly better trade but to be honest I'm in a 10 person team where there are enough decent QBs floating about that Ben's value is slightly diminished. He could have dropped a crappy bench player and picked up a waver or free agent that is at least 80% as good as Ben. Also, I need WRs to fill my slots next week where a lot of my good players are on buys. Anyways, time will tell how this trade will affect the league.

+1. Also, I wouldn't put britt in this week with a ten foot pole. San Diego's pass defense is phenomenal (#1 in the league), so I wouldn't imagine Britt to put up anything respectable. Keep Big Ben and use him as leverage when you really need something, if you're not starting him. Britt's not the answer though.

I sure am glad my opponent has him starting this week.

I hear you on that. I picked up LT in week 2 when everybody said no way they'd start him, then he blew up. I ended up trading from my side Jay Cutler and Maurice Jones-Drew for Phillip Rivers and Ryan Torain, which I'm super glad I did. RIght after the trade, J-Cut stopped producing big numbers and Torain became #1 that following week for Washington. I sure lucked out on timing there. So now I've got Rivers, LT, Torain, etc.

In a 10 person league there should more then likely be good WR on the wire too. Not trying to be an ass or anything but imo it was a not such a good trade. But ya, it could work out for you in the end, as could any trade tho.

I can see Jerry Jones demanding that Dez be used alot since everyone and their mother knows that the Cowgirls season is over. Dez is the only exciting thing on that roster but like was said before, anything can happen.

I just don't like Cutler and his overrated skills in a Martz' overrated offense behind a horrible underachieving offensive line. I hope it works out for you b/c even though their both hit/misses, Knox is more of miss than Dez. Dez worked that Giants D and almost single handedly beat them.
