Trading S4 for HTC M7

The 2 main reasons I would, sense is obviously better than BloatWiz.

As well the build quality is much much better than the plastic via Samsung.

HTC is just my preferred manufacturer of the two.

The build quality is about the same, the materials on the HTC are different and better quality yes, but they are both made well.

The rest is pretty subjective. Yes TouchWiz is a bloated launcher/skin, still works OK thought, sense is not obviously better than TouchWiz, it is obviously better for you.

Objective reasons not to go for the HTC M7:

Lack of removable battery, no memory card slot, main camera not as highly speed.

Objective reasons to go for it :

Better build materials, Sense is less bloated then TouchWiz, stereo speakers.

Basically no one can give you a definitive because we all have different needs. Personally I'd stick, but that is just me.

I can name some other good reasons to go for the HTC.

You can unlock the bootloader via HTC dev, but a better way is through the available software & then you can s-off.

These options make rooting very simple, something Samsung has crippled with the secure boot.

IMO if you are into custom roms Samsung has made the choice easy get an HTC, if not stick with the S4 as you got expandable storage & removable battery.

No locked bootloaders for the vast majority of S4's world wide the GT-i9505 (the LTE international version), tripped Knox flags yes, nothing else though. To root just flash a simple .tar file using Odin, stock firmware, Kernel and recovery mode, with root, simple.

I am on JB 4.3, i cant go back to 4.2, but on an HTC with s-off there is no stopping you as you can flash different h boots & radios.

Fair enough if you are on 4.2 to begin with & don't get caught out with an update, (like i did) you have an unlocked bootloader.

I don't think plastic vs metal tells you anything about the build quality. The reason plastics are everywhere in the modern world is that they are very often the best material for the job. Look at the back of the S4. It feels incredibly flimsy but it is perfect for the job.

I do think Knox is a factor and it will certainly put me off buying another Samsung phone or tablet (having bought 3 S series phones and a Note 10.1 2014) but the bootloader isn't locked, you just have to be prepared to put up with the consequences of blowing the fuse and it's still not fully clear what all those are.

The deciding factor for me would be CL. At least you know your S4 isn't stolen and won't have its IMEI blocked so, if it were me, I'd stick with the S4.

Stick with the.

-Despite having a larger, 5inch display and larger battery, its smaller/ ergonomically friendly
-It has a far better Camera with a great Sony Exmor R sensor (Exmor RS sensor if you get the I9500)
-Better Battery life
-Expandable Memory
-faster CPU

Htc One is a great phone, but it's behind in many areas compared to the allrounded nature of the GS4.
