Help Transferring from phone to computer

I have a HTC Inspire and I can't get it to link to my computer. I did it before, I hooked up the usb cable and I was able to drag and drop my videos from phone to computer and my pictures all uploaded onto my laptop as well. Now I hook up my phone and I can't find it anywhere on my PC. These android phones are really getting on my nerve. My iPhone never had this problem before.

Well did you pull down the notification bar and make sure you check the usb connection? As for the iphone comment, thats really getting old. Hope all work out for you.

Nothing in my notification bar, everything I did previously to transfer isn't working this time. I don't really care if stuff I say is getting old. To be honest, if I could switch back I would, but it's too late. So I'm on here to make the best of it. It's just a phone, some people take this stuff so seriously. But I want to be able to do what the phone advertises.

I'm sorry you've got this frustrating situation. Perhaps if you were a little bit more descriptive we could help troubleshoot where the problem lies.

You say that you used to be able to drag and drop from your phone to your PC. Exactly how did that happen? You'd plug in the USB cable on your phone and it would appear on the PC as mass storage? Or, did HTC's Sync software open and give you an interface to upload and download?

Now, when you plug in your phone to a USB port on your PC or Laptop, nothing happens. You see no notifications on the phone that say "usb connected"? Have you tried using a different USB cable? You might have broken a wire or bent a pin in the one you are using.

I turned my phone off and then restarted it and then hooked it back up. Now it's working. It gets frustrating when you make a leap to a new product and it doesn't function. I could have easily went with the iPhone 4 but wanted to give android a fair shake. I heard a lot of great things about it while I was using my iPhone. I didn't think this place was a love affair for android, I thought it was a place to share information. Apparently expressing displeasure with android isn't looked highly upon here.

In all honesty, your post came across as nothing more than venting frustration, which is perfectly acceptable. It happens all the time, and as long as you keep it with bound of common courtesy to other members, feel free to continue. However, when you present a simple problem as an insurmountable obstacle and condemn the platform in favor of a competitor, don't be surprised if others respond with equally superlative, but opposite comments.

One of the things you must understand it that Android phones are all different enough to cause problems when the owner of one device tries to support the user of another. Menu wording or option locations may be different and cause further frustration. We are here to try and make your Android experiences positive and not let the minor problems turn into big ones.

Perhaps to an overly sensitive individual it could come across as pure venting, but not to most people. I told which phone I have, gave the issue I was having and stated that I've done this function before. If that was not enough information then all somebody has to do is ask for more. I was trying to get an answer to my question. The venting was a sidenote and afterthought saved for the very end. The only things I've stated on this forum about iphones vs. android was that the apps for the iphone are better (I can't get a few apps that make my business much more convenient) and that I keep running into little problems like this past one.

I just got my phone to connect to my pc by changing a default setting.. Menu/Setting/Connect to PC/Default Connection Type/hard drive. The default setting was charge only. Check that Ohio. I think the rub was the Iphone comment.. has no relevance to your question and only serves to make people wonder why you bought the HTC in the first place.
