Help Transferring music creates two items

CharlesLewis

After playing around, I have discovered that when I transfer music from iTunes to my Droid X, I often have two items for each item. One begins with an underscore and the other without. The underscore item won't play but the other does. I assume that somehow transferring the items creates some kind of dummy file.

I can work around this in Astro Player by manually selecting the playable items when I create my playlist (I have music, podcasts, and books, all within different folders), but it would obviously be faster -- especially with my music playlist which has 300 items -- if I could get rid of the dummy items or keep them from being created. I've tried DoubleTwist and iSyncr, but they have problems of their own, so drop and drag seems to work best for me.

Any suggestions?

I had this happen too. I just dragged my music stright from iTunes folders onto my SD card. What I suspect happened is that iTunes actually made these duplicates so as to keep an original intact as well as play the tracks properly in iTunes. I know that I don't get ANY of my music from iTunes itself (i KNOW i CHANGED ID3'S AND COVER ART INFO WITHIN ItUNES A LOT). It is all ripped and/or downloaded elsewhere and imported into iTunes. Th same thing happens when transfering files over to a Windows machine.

What's puzzling is that if I use Finder to view the files on my Droid, the "dummy" entries don't show up. That would suggest that somehow the Droid is creating them -- placemarkers perhaps?
