Help Transferring Photos

Hi

I have just bought my first digital camera, Nikon Coolpix L30, and would like to transfer the photos to my Nexus 7 2013 tablet. I have only had the tablet a short time, a retirement present, so this is all still a bit new to me. If anyone could tell me what I need and how to effect the transfer I would be most grateful. I am a non technical senior citizen so the simpler the explanation the better☺.

Thank you.

We'll start here - a USB OTG cable.
Amazon.com: Micro USB Host OTG Cable with Micro USB Power for Nexus 4 5 7 10 Galaxy Nexus & Samsung Galaxy S 3 III 4 IV 5 V.: Computers & Accessories
That's the one I got. You can see there are three connectors. One of them plugs into the micro USB port on the 'bottom' of your N7. One of them can accept the plug from the charging cable that you normally plug into your N7 to charge it. This allows you to charge your N7 while having something else connected to it. The third on is a female standard USB. You can plug things into that such as a thumb drive or possibly a cable from your camera.
You may be able to get away with OTG Disk Explorer Lite. It's a free app that you can get from the Play Store. If that app can't read images from your camera you will probably need the Nexus Media Importer app which costs just a few dollars.
