transferring settings from old desire to new desire

I've been having reception issues with Orange and they are sending me a new handset to see if that is the problem.

If I drag all the data from the old SD card to my computer and then back over to the new SD card, will that keep all the setting form the HTC backup settings? Or do I have to point it in the right direction.

Yeah this. Although if you sync contacts and calendar with Google, dont back them up.
