Transformer volume isn't loud enough. Do Volume Booster apps really work?

Just bought a 32gb Transformer and the volume is too low for watching Netflix movies. I see a couple paid-for "volume booster" apps and was wondering if they work?

I can't speak to one of these on the FT, but I've used one on the Nook Color and it did make a noticeable difference.
I agree with you that the volume is too low to be usable for movie watching. The one time that I used my TF for that I actually plugged in some powered PC speakers - it worked great. :)

Long story short I have purchased and uninstalled just about very app that claims to boost volume, some kind of do by using and equalizer to change tones and what not, but as far as increase the only way I could get an actual increase was by rooting and using an app called VooDoo. There are 2 kinds of their app, one is free and depends on a kernel that has voodoo support. The other costs $4 and has the voodoo support built in so you can use it on any ROM. I chose this one because I didn't want to load a different ROM.
FYI, I'm not dissing on any of those apps, they just didn't work for me. Let me know if that helps.

And what is the difference now with the way the speakers sound compared to before? Was it a free app or a paid app?

Thanks

The sound(all sound) was amplified after i ran the app and just moved all the sliders to the full position, the day that i was using it it didnt prompt me to pay for the app or nothing, but i'll check that when i get home im in meetings most of my day..
