Not in Play, but they are available - afaik your device needs to be (a) rooted and (b) running a deodexed firmware though. They won't work with the stock firmware.

Yes, I have heard about that 0.9.11.0 ver of Flashtool.

So that leads me to the follow up q - what can I mess up when I root my Xperia?

(I have jailbroken my ios devices, the iphone 4s and Ipad 3)

By itself? Nothing. However, as rooting allows access to the entire filesystem the potential is there.
