Trashing Email Trash...

So, I want to clear out my trash folder on my phone in the standard (stock) email app that is through a POP server. Here is the problem, anytime I try to delete all, some or even just one email from the trash folder to completely get rid of it, the app crashes. I would guess this has something to do with the fact that I have over 20,000 trashed emails in there. Who knows why I didn't notice this problem until now...

I was hoping that I could find a way to do this by connecting it to my computer, but I have not been able to figure out where to find this data once I have connected my phone. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

Some info:
Galaxy S2
Running 4.1.2

Hi LastGunslinger. I'm going to move your thread into the area where your S2 is discussed. The good folks there know you phone best and will have suggestions for you I'm sure. I will PM you a link to your moved thread. There will also be a temp link here in the Lounge. Best of luck to you and thanks for joining and using these forums.

Does Android have an app that works like the shift key for selection? Highlight a selection - hold shift key down - click on last selection. Everything in between selected.
If there is, instead of deleting the whole thing at once, you can try it in bits. Takes longer.
How are you set up? I use Aquamail, and it has "purge deleted on closing" nothing else. If you have a setting like that, use it instead of adding more messages.

Unfortunately email is not stored in a folder, but in a protected database in the system area of the OS. I can't offer much in terms of suggestions other than in the long run it might be easier to backup your important messages and perform a factory reset.
