Root Tricking phone into downgrading

Is there a way of tricking this phone into downgrading from B12 to a earlier version? I know a phone can be tracked because I had to trick a MyTouch 4G into downgrading from Gingerbread to Froyo because GB on that phone was not rootable.

No I had to tweak a file in /data/local/tmp via ADB. And then viola!

could you mod the build.prop to trick the phone into thinking it was running older software, to get the ota downloaded?

then mod the ota to downgrade?

could possibly make the modified ota (old version) report as a much higher revision...block future otas this way possibly?
