Tried all the keyboards for dinc- I choose to use:

Swype users are like iPhone users. Despite the fact that other swiping keyboards may be better, they don't care. If it isn't Swype, they don't want it.
Thems fightin words.
I am a swype user, thought I am using swiftkey at the moment. I give all keyboards as shot, but but so far swype is what I prefer. As with all technology, it is a matter of preference. I am starting to like swiftkey a lot, but it is not without faults.

I've tried them all. Swype's better for me (now that ShapeWriter is dead, anyway). Is that so hard to believe? I type faster and my texts aren't full of stupid typos or "txt speek".

So you don't like Swype, that means you have to make stupid inflammatory statements about those who do? Very classy.

Well, I made the post in jest. But I wasn't referring to those such as yourself who give things a fair shake. I was speaking of the ones who, when presented with a Swype alternative, say things like, "I've tried that one. It's unusable!"

Which is of course absurd, because all the swipe keyboards perform similarly. One has a feature the others lack and vice versa, but to claim one as unusable is ridiculous. All Swype users aren't this way (such as yourself), but there are indeed quite a few with the iPhone syndrome who simply refuse to use other keyboards because they aren't Swype.

smart keyboard pro just came out with an update that added multi touch to it's app. I have been going back and forth between smart keyboard and swiftkey. Swift Key is a great alternative to swype if your not a swyper type person. I usually use swift in vertical mode since I have big crazy thumbs. LOL

Tried a few. Stock for me is the most comfortable. I can't wait for the coming update. The early adopters have confirmed the addition of multitouch to the stock keyboard.

-typed on my stock Inc's keyboard.

I have 0 loyalty to a keyboard, so I was happy to check out SlideIT. At 6 euros ($7.75), it seems a bit too expensive for a keyboard, when I got the Swpye Beta for free.

I'm trying out the free demo though... it would have to knock my socks off for an $8 keyboard though.

Update: Tried it out for 5 min -- loving it. $8 worth? No, but still has some serious upsides to Swype.

Upsides: feels faster, text prediction above your typing area (but doesn't block screen), has a Microphone button, uncluttered keyboard (this is a downside too though... read on), the 1234567890 are not in the annoying # pattern.

Downsides: to place a "?", you have to go to the symbol page and hit "?" -- Swype lets you long-hold on a single key (this is the "clutter" issue from before), it's only a "demo" (not sure what that means though...), full-version is $8.

I think I'll see if this demo will work indefinitely and see how I feel in the long-run. Maybe, just maybe it will be worth $8.

I like Shapewriter over Swype if only for the prediction box not being a popup. The Droid X keyboard is a winner too, been using it lately. I wish shapewriter had a .com button. Tried out Swiftkey and it was pretty nice but there is no way it can beat Shapewriter for me anyway, especially on longer words. Not sure why people have trouble using it one handed, just tracing with the thumb works for me.

Hmm I'm pretty sure Smart Keyboard has had multi-touch for a while. At least as long as I've been using it (6 or 7 weeks).

Maybe everyone is tired of hearing me say it but slide-it is the best and is worth the $.

Ok I am trying out slideit demo now. It is very fast. I like it so far. The predictive text is a bit off, but maybe it will pick up on howI type/swipe. I like that can turn the swipe off ifI need to. I will check this out for a few days. I am so very used to swipe though.

I like swype and the moto x keyboard. I now mostly use the moto x keyboard because swype doesn't work properly with remote droid.

Stock HTC sense UI for me. Incredible FTMFW! Then again, I can type over 130 w.p.m. on a standard size keyboard so that helps quite a bit, heh. The word prediction on my DIc. took some getting used to but it's so awesome now. I love this keyboard!

i've tried most of those as well, and i always end up going back to swype. so far it's my favorite. if the droid x keyboard had the option to hold down the letters to get numbers/symbols instead of going back and forth to the symbols screen, i'd be using that instead.

I think the big decider is 'how fast do you type on standard keyboard'. I can type as fast as I think, so nothing faster than stock in landscape, but if I was limited in my typing speed, I can see how swiftkey would be obvious winner.

I go along at about 110wpm. I'm fastest on trace keyboards. I know where all the letters are, so there's no delay in tracing along. My problem with a normal tap keyboard is my hands are conditioned to type with all ten fingers, not just my thumbs or an index finger. I -thought- I was fastest like that, but turns out not so much.
