Root Tried to Flash Megatron, now WiFi doesn't work. (SOLVED!)

Here's a weird problem.

I tried to flash Megatron onto my Transform Ultra, (the black and white theme), and upon rebooting, the status bar would always have to be Force Quit, and it'd never appear.

So, I restored by old backup via CWM, cleared the cache, and rebooted. Everything works fine except now, the WiFi doesn't work. It'll connect, but it the icon won't turn green, and it won't transmit any data, from any app. Not Dolphin, not Facebook, not Netflix, nothing. My only option for data now, is 3G.

The only thing I did was flash Megatron. That's it. Then, re-flashed by old backup from before I flashed Megatron.

Thoughts on what happened/Possible solutions?

turn off wifi reboot into cwm clear data cache then start up and try again. Id give megatron another go its a great rom did you clear data after your backup before flashing it?

I rebooted into CWM, cleared data/factory reset, and wiped data cache. Still didn't work. Restored my backup, and still doesn't work.

Which rom version is your backup based on? The 1st update samsung released for this phone broke wifi. Perhaps that's the issue you're having? You could try open dns and see if it fixes the problem or a different rom.

My backup is 2.3.6 with FF27. I can't remember if the latest is 2.3.7 or not.

I'm thinking I should probably use another ROM, but I'm not sure which one to use. I used StarScROM for a while, until the first update to 2.3.6. I ran stock for a while, than I used the FF27 update that was rooted until now.

I like ROM's that aren't really heavily customized, I liked the look and feel of stock Android. But I liked the subtle new features StarScROM had.

Any ideas?

You're running the latest version where wifi is fixed then.. I just wanted to rule that out because it's exactly the problem you're describing.

Aside from trying a static IP (which you shouldn't have to) I'm all out of ideas. Sorry. I hope you figure it out.

edit: I'm not a fan of heavily customized roms either so I know what you mean. Here is a long shot, but maybe try restoring the FF27 update with root again?

At first, I thought maybe it was because I'm running my home network through an IPv6 tunnel, but that wasn't it, every other smartphone I have works just fine on my WAN.

EDIT: Good idea, I'll try that now.

Bad News.

I reflashed the rooted FF27 update, and the problem still exists. I have no idea what could be causing this.

I have to use a static IP Address, Subnet Mask, Gateway, and DNS1 and DNS2 settings to connect to WiFi.

And I'm on the latest version of Android for this phone, 2.6.35.7.

:(

You know, this could be a baseband issue, as Megatron does flash a new baseband, and I've heard that the baseband affects ALL signals coming into and going out of the device, not just 3G.

Try downloading this file to the root of your SD card, and use CWM to flash it. It'll (re)flash the baseband, and hopefully fix your problem. Lemme know if it works, one way or the other, and if you need more detailed instructions. Best of luck. :)

I'll try that now, thanks for the tip. I'll let you know the outcome.

EDIT: It Worked!! Thank you very much, that was a great idea! You sir, just went up a couple pegs on the awesome scale!
