Trillian IM Client

Facebook chat wouldn't work for me. I didn't really try too hard to figure out a solution, because I don't really NEED it....I'm just sayin, when I tried to set it up with my AIM and Yahoo accounts, those two worked and Facebook didn't.

Is this true?!?! If so, that really SUCKS and how would it be considered an IM app if , well, it's not INSTANT?? Someone please tell me this isn't right.

I just downloaded it and I really like the interface. It looks like Gtalk which I like alot but is very buggy with my usage. People appear logged on, who aren't, people appear logged in, and aren't, etc.

My few questions about Trillian..1) Is there a way to get rid of the trillian icon from constantly running in the status bar?
2) When you go to sign out, there's a "suspend" option...What's the difference between the two??

Not true at all. My IM's from Facebook are in real time. I can open my computer and and have Facebook open. As someone chats with me, AT THE EXACT SAME TIME, I receive a message on my phone. Is that REAL time enough for ya?

NOPE!

did they come out of beta yet or something? because when i used it, it wouldn't send me anything when i backed out of the app without formally signing out. it would wait till i came back in, then mass-deliver everything

Way to run your mouth while knowing absolutely nothing!!! You are absolutely mistaken. It's people like you who spread lies and start untrue rumors.

Trillian's interface on the PC can be customized with skins. If you can't find a skin to suit your needs you didn't look hard enough. Therefore, I highly doubt you have ever tried Trillian yourself.

Go troll somewhere else!

BTW see above post, Trillian absolutely is in real time.

1. Yes, I don't have the Trillian icon in my status bar. I'm running version 1.0 117

2. Suspend puts it to sleep, sign out closes the program.

My settings are Group Contacts by Service, Hide Offline Contacts, Sort Contacts by status. Ongoing Notifications OFF, Sound on (Facebook Pop as ringtone).
 
Oh as I type, IN REAL TIME, someone just IM'd me from Facebook. I replied IN REAL TIME and watched it pop up on my Facebook account on my computer.

second off, learn to read: i did use it. i used it when this topic first came out, HENCE WHY I REPLIED IN THE TOPIC. read the entire damn thread. please, do yourself that favor. notice the problems with push notifications that were ocurring: after a bit, the phone stopped pushing any notification. that's HOW it let's the phone sleep. THIS is the problem i was speaking of, and the problem others had. good god, people.

@jayochs, feel free to use Meebo, AIM or anything that you want. Feel free to have a drained battery and crappy IM client's. No one cares. Your opinion has been duly noted on this matter. Move along, there is nothing more to see here for you.

For anyone else that cares, Trillian rocks, give it a try at the link I listed a couple above. It's IN REAL TIME, and it DOES NOT DRAIN YOUR BATTERY.

I used this client from the day it came out (I had signed up on their site a while ago) and it NEVER did anything except real time instant messaging with ALL protocols. There IS a "battery saving" mode, but all that does is change it from real time to interval-scheduled polling. There was no time EVER when it sent friggin' emails instead of IM's.

Hell, that doesn't even make SENSE. Why would it push an email to your phone instead of the instant message itself? That doesn't save any system resources, it's still a push notification, only now it's email instead of the Trillian client. It'd be like calling someone's cell phone to let them know you're about to call the house phone.

Even without the battery saving option, Trillian's never had any issue letting my phone sleep, and uses nearly no system resources. Nearest I can figure, this is because it's not the client that actually does any work, it acts similar to the Gmail app in that it receives push notifications rather than doing what, say, eBuddy does and just constantly poll the services.

There is an option to push emails under settings, but if you read it, it is only for when your phone is suspended. In other words, when you click Menu>More>Sign Off> you will see two options, Sign Off or Suspend. If you push suspend it goes into a deeper sleep and does NOT act in real time. It gathers your IM's and treats them as emails. In other words, if you've ever tried to IM someone that just signed off from Facebook but their still listed in chat, it offers you an option of sending your IM as a message. THAT is what it means by email IM's to you. Otherwise, if you are not "suspended" or signed off, your IM's are in REAL time always. Period.
 
I didn't realize that option was in there. Still seems a little pointless, but all righty. At least it does exist, but the fact remains that as a user of Trillian from the first beta release, it NEVER happened to me just randomly.

It's POSSIBLE that there was a bug for some that caused it to sleep prematurely, but that yahoo was claiming it was the DESIGN.

Years ago I purchased Trillian and created a userID before Cerulean purchased the application.

I stopped using it a few years back for whatever reason...
Think I stopped using it because at the time there wasn't a app for neither the Apple iPhone nor Blackberry.

Well now I see its available for the Android systems so I tried to log in and well it isn't recognizing me.
It says I have to create another userID and more$$$...

When I look in their database for previous purchases i do appears and it does show I did buy version 3.### (dont remember of the top of my head).

I tried to get through to them but there really isn't away to speak or email my problem.

I tried and now counting its been 5 weeks since.
The option redirects me to their facts and question's page, which really isnt any help ion this case.

Does anyone have any ideas or direction (addy) that can be offered?

As I said I am appearing in their database as a owner of the previous version.

Why are you purchasing Trillian? It's free at this point. I really don't know what to tell you about making your old account active.

gave it a try and love it! For 3hrs i was chatting with ppl who i havent spoken to in many years, since this allowed me to add ICQ which i havent even touched in over a decade lol

Is this over? I cant get it to download. All it does is refresh the page every time i click the link
