This is a wonderful case. It's adds virtually no bulk but I imagine it is more shock absorbing than a skin sticker. The screen may still need some protecting though, but it's good to know that if you lay it face down, the case will keep the actual touch screen from touching a table's surface.

Biggest con: I would have liked more room for a large audio jack to fit easily. As it stands I use a small audio extension cable to make it into my car's thicker system cable.

The HDMI ports and Micro USB port work well. The power and volume buttons work as well. Doesn't block anything. Good openings for sensors, speakers, mic, etc.

The case itself isn't too sticky like other silicon cases, nor is it too slippery. So it easily slides in and out of pockets without getting stuck, while not sliding around on a table.

Sometimes the boxy corners of the VM Triumph just irritates my hand. This has a good feel in hand, as it adds some a more curved fit into my palm.

Flexible, but rigid. Easy enough to remove phone. Won't pop out accidentally, so far. Nice color.
Even though I appreciate the amazing Otterbox hybrid designs, (which I have used on my previous Optimus V) this will be enough case for me to stop searching.

What's great about it: Thin, lightweight, protective.
What's not so great: Would have liked larger audio cable input jack.

Great, thought out review...thank you very much! I knew about the Rocketfish cases, but hadn't given them any thought, thinking they were just cheap junk. After reading your review, I'll have to go check them out myself. I'm still holding out for OtterBox, but this sounds like a good cover to get me through until those come out. I'm really nervous carrying my Triumph around 'naked'. :p

Having owned a few cases, I've avoided the snap-cases because they may not protect well: perhaps just when they've absorbed the first bounce, and before it settles safely, they snap off, leaving the phone unprotected. The otterbox case was perfect for this extra protection, but left the phone with considerably more bulk. Lastly, the plastic on the snap-on cases I've seen don't seem very strong. The connectors don't seem reliable either. But at $10 shipped, it may be worth trying out.

I've had plenty of cases like that one. They're just like the hard plastic ones in the sense that if you drop it the case flies off in 2 pieces lol. Also the rubbery feeling wears off. On the edges and stuff. Its better than nothing I suppose
 
I picked up the rocket fish case today....I got my $50 gift card and with it I got the black tie replacement plan and had $10 left over so the case was only $10, minus the 10%
I freakin' LOVE it. I expected it to be like those cheap silicone ones you get online but it's much much nicer.

I was quite surprised, too. It's a pretty good case. I was a big fan of the Incipio Feather case for my iPhone...and maybe they'll eventually do something for the Triumph, but this case is not bad. Not bad at all.
 
Looking for a mount for the car that clips to vents- dash in my car gets too much sun and is angled weird, don't want anything permanent since I'm not in this car for long. TIA

I picked up one of these at the local Target store for about 22 bucks. It works okay. It does clamp to the vent in a Subaru WRX (2005) very well, and there is no real concern about it falling downward. That said, there isn't much keeping it from upward movement, so when you hit bumps, it will wiggle here and there, but I doubt it would drop the phone.

I think it'll do for now, until I can come up with a custom mounting solution. At least the phone isn't sliding around in the seat or the cup holder. This Youtube video explains it quite well.

For $5 this is what I'm using for the car mount. I've been using it my Intercept for a few months and when I got the Triumph, it fits no problem. I love it because its small size makes it unobtrusive even with the phone mounted.

I just picked up the Rocketfish case last night from BB... That thing is awesome... I expected a hard shell, and was surprised it wasn't... Fits like a glove and..... I'm VERY happy with it!
 
Melissa, what did you find wrong with the screen protectors? I wrote my review of them just above yours and I like them. I'm curious why you think they're awful.

Good, not great. Nice cable, good length, excellent price, good delivery time and packaging. But the questionable part is the output to my screen. The resolution was correct, all worked irght, but the color depth is low, maybe 8-bit or 12-bit, but no where near true color. Could be the fault of the Triumph's video.

Maybe it's just the ones I got? Hmmm...threw package away - are these the kind you get wet or something? I peeled paper backing off and tried to apply - feels really thick and rubbery, like I can't skim my fingers across it without getting stuck. Lots bubbles that won't flatten out no matter how much I push something across to smooth out. Am I jacka** and didn't put them on right? That would be hysterical.

It could be that I'm just used to putting protective screens on. I've got them on everything. And I agree, the first couple of times I began putting the screens on, I got a ton of bubbles that I had to tear the screen off and throw it away. But I got the hang of beginning to peel the screen off, placing it where I wanted it on the phone (tv, mp3 player, whatever) curling it back and just laying it down slowly, watching for bubbles and if any large bubbles appeared, pulling back and laying it down again, using the force of the protective screen to squeeze out bubbles at first.
Then I took a credit card and starting from the center, squeezed out as many of the bubbles as I could. There were still a few small ones left and I thought they might be a problem but turning the screen on I couldn't see the bubbles. Then, the next day, the tiny bubbles had disappeared.
And no, I don't use water with these. But I think luck is definitely needed when putting each one of these on. No two are the same.
