Triumph Appreciation

I've seen so many threads lately about people dumping the Triumph for whatever reason, so I decided to make a thread for us folks who are still here. I for one like this phone. Sure, it's not the best phone out there, but it's the best phone I've owned. Besides, with such an awesome community and hardcore devs it's hard to let go. :) So at least for me, I'm happy to have the Triumph and am looking forward to the continuation of the incredible ROMs in store. So, who's with me?

Lol...can't afford to jump ship...and with all this code Aurora building, building of REAL stock roms and CM9 on the verge of fully operational I don't want to...if it wasn't for the MTDEV team I would have been gone by now.

I don't post much but i have to completely agree with you emerald, i may be innactive in the mt community but im constantly checking out what everyone has had to offer to this phone and it seems to have come so far and is still prospering

Although the Triumph isnt as rock solid as my first android the Optimus V it has come farther than I ever imagined. Now as I prepare to upgrade to the Nexus 4 I sit in awe of the fact that this forgotten bastard step child of a phone is not only performing as well as any phone in its era but has the potential to go even farther. With that being said I do not plan on using my Triumph any less. Since the N4 wont have a SD card.

I have enjoyed my MT ever since I bought it in February. With the work put in by all the Devs, I have this phone set up the way I want it, not the way Motorola and Virgin Mobile think it should be. So, I am lovin' my MT, but Motorola and Virgin Mobile give me a bad taste in my mouth. Once this phone has out lived it's purpose, I will buy another phone, but never again will I buy a Motorola.

I agree with you, the only way I will ever purchase another Motorola is if Google takes full control and releases all source for each model moving forward. The Triumph is a solid phone for the market Virgin Mobile was shooting for. I still think this is still one of the top phones on VM even though it still ships with Froyo. Once we knock out the camera this will continue to prove one of the top phones. The only phone that is better is the HTC Evo V. Sure there is the reverb but it doesn't offer HDMI. So yeah Triumph till I die :-)

I dunno about triumph till I die...lol...more like till it dies...I'm not done till I feel like I got my 279$ out of it...I'm gonna rock this thing till it melts...lmao

I'm keeping my Triumph because my phone is rooted and unlock for tethering.

I recently brought a Boost Mobile LG Venice, because I wanted to stay updated with ICS and face locking ability with flash.

This LG Venice phone is incredible and it's running ICS 4.0.4 out the box. And one button control like iphone5.

Thanks, devs for y'all hard work.:o

I don't think there is a lot of appreciation for this phone It has been nothing but buggy service is lousy, wifi has never worked right the user experience is just blah... You have to put a custom rom on it just so the touch screen works right. I have had it for about 10 months now and was not impressed when i bought or now, And now with the nexus 4 out and t-mobile's 30 a month plan I am going to jump ship and sell mine and my old ladies triumph, whats not to like guaranteed updates, Hspa+, a Way faster network, Way faster phone all for 5 a month more then I pay now Might have to put the old lady on the simple talk plan though she runs her mouth a lot ;P

This thread was to talk good things about the Triumph, not to bash it and say you're jumping ship. I agree that the custom ROMs by far outshine the stock ROM, but that doesn't mean the phone is useless.

That was me talking good about the phone, you don't want to hear what bad things i have to say about it

If Moto would at least support the thing it would be better instead of just treating us like mushrooms. I really like the Triumph. Just don't understand why if MTDEV can put ICS on the phone. Why Moto can't at least update it to GB.

I agree. I feel like VM just wanted to make a quick buck and Motorola just slapped the phone together. It really does have so much potential to be an awesome phone and thank goodness our devs see that. :)

musroms=Mushrooms= Keep you in the dark and feed you poop. ;)
Not correcting anyone's spelling I just always liked that phrase LOL

The two things that stand out about the MT is the camera and sound quality. The camera takes very good stills and I have found good video (this video taken with my MT). Plus I use it to listen to music with and without headphones. Without headphones, the music sounds pretty good considering the size of the speakers.

The triumph is like a good woman, she'll drive you crazy every once in a while but that makes you appreciate her all the more when times are good. The custom roms take the phone to a notch above where it is out of the box. As my first smartphone I will always remember it. For better or worse I love the thing and will miss it when I some day move on.

Only reason I don't still rock a Triumph is because of the questionable decision of my generous (and maybe drunk, still can't entirely account for it) wife giving me the go-ahead to get the S3.

The MT isn't a bad phone & was pretty much a prepaid standout spec-wise when it was introduced on VM, I think we all just wish it had been a better built handset. But she's a scrapper & easy to root & the MTDEV folks got moxie. It's great checking back in to the MT forum, helping the folks I can & keeping tabs on the amazing progress the devs are making. Viva the MT! :)
