Help Triumph custom notification and ring problems?

Motor Triumph running stock Android 2.2

I've looked up several guides on this and ran into complications. Tried creating media and audio subfolders on SD, no success. Turns out stock rings and tones are on system memory only. They are all. Ogg files. When I add an mp3 to the location no success. For some reason mp3 is a wrong file type on this phone. Tried a file conversion app but said I needed a codec installed that I do not have or know where to get just to use the app.

Any feasible way to convert mp3 to ogg on Android? Also why doesnt Triumph recognize mp3 as a valid ring file?

To convert your mp3s to ogg, download Audacity, it's free and pretty easy to use.

If you want the ringtones to loop (play more than once), you need to add another tag to the ogg files for ANDROID_LOOP and set it to "true". More complete directions for doing that with Audacity can be found here.

As to why the Triumph doesn't recognize mp3s... no idea, other than that's just the way it is. But you can get around it at least.
