Help Triumph Gorilla Glass

Hey Guys, I've been living under a rock. So rumor and fact has it that our MT's do come with Gorilla glass but what is it exactly? I assume Gorilla glass is the stuff that you can take a key to, drop stuff on and it's still perfect?

Is anyone using their MT with just the Gorilla Glass with the stock protector peeled off. How is that working out? any scratches?

I read in another post that someone said BB will install a Zagg shield for you, does anyone have a price off hand? I would hope less than $20.

Thanks everyone!

I'm using mine without any covers and it's done nothing short of perfect, even with keys in pocket and at Warped Tour.

The Triumph comes with 2 shield guards. If you want to keep it in mint condition keep the 2nd shield on. I prefer the feel of bare glass.

Are you guys sure this thing has Gorilla Glass? My dad dropped mine the other day (not terribly hard or anything) and the screen has 2 small scratches in it now, which doesn't sound like Gorilla Glass. I'm probably wrong though.

Did you remove the 2nd screen protector? Your scratches may just be on the factory screen protector.

Ugh, no. I didn't even think of that. And now I've got a separate screen protector on it. >.<

Thanks though. I'll try and remember to check that out when/if the screen protector I bought comes off.

Unless the Corning website is lying, it's Gorilla Glass. It's on their list.

I've had the bare glass since the phone came out, no scratches yet. My LG Optimus V scratched really easily compared to the Triumph.

If you put the phone in your pocket with keys, the glass will scratch. The Iphone4 does the same thing.

You have to understand, Gorilla Glass is not indestructable or scratch proof. People think that it is bomb proof, and it is not. it's just a strongly made glass. (Read Gimmick)

I removed the factory screen protector, and have been handling the Triumph as gently as possible. I noticed two scratches on it.

As far as I'm concerned, guerilla glass is for the birds.

Why is it that there is NOOOOO possible way that you may not have done something to the phone without knowing it, and it's the fault of the phone or the glass ?

I have had the 2nd thick protector off for 2 days now.

The response is better, not a lot, but enough that after 2 days I have noticed an improvement. The screen is also less greasy/slick/oily with the protector off.

As for screen clarity, I have not noticed much difference.

I'm starting to notice some scratches in the stock screen protector. I'm gonna take it off when it gets too bad and hopefully get an invisible shield

That's the point. Guerrilla glass is supposed to protect you from the occasional minor mishap.

Oh well.

I've dropped my phone a few times, and today I noticed a few tiny nicks in the screen. /: I took the factory screen protector off.

My screen cracked this past weekend. I did not drop it or bang it into anything, at least not that I am aware of. I have been extremely careful with this phone. I placed it down to charge with no visible scratches or cracks. I came back 30 mins later and it had what appeared to be a scratch in the middle of the screen. It spread across the screen. I have another phone on the way. Has anyone else had this happen? I work in warranty and have investigated glass cracking on its own due to how it was formed.

Thanks!

Greg

Did you remove BOTH screen protectors?

I do not believe it's gorilla glass, but I don't care. I removed the second screen protector as I couldn't deal with the sensitivity problems - and ALL screen protectors on a capacitive screen cause problems to some degree.

This is the first report of an actual BROKEN screen however. It was suspicious about the screen being glass at all; I suspected it may be polycarbonate. But if you got one that cracked, well, that's glass - plastic will ding and scratch but it doesn't shatter. Glass does and plenty of people with iPhones and other glass-screen devices have discovered that while they're more scratch-resistant if dropped the odds are high that the screen will BREAK, which is much worse than a scratch!
