Help Triumph randomly shuts down

How do you change the wireless sleep policy? Is there an APP for that, or something?

Nevermind. I found it. It still reboots, however.
In the wifi menu, there is a submenu with the tab advanced. there you will see wifi sleep policy. Change it to never. See if the problem goes away.

The other thing to explore is apps. Did you recently install any new apps that may be contributing to the reboots?

I thought that may be the case, so I completely wiped my phone. Even with the straight up vanilla froyo, it was still booting. Changing the Wifi settings made it happen like once every 15 minutes as opposed to once every 5. But it's still a problem. I don't want to trade my phone in. This one's been so good to me!

For what it's worth, though, it doesn't reboot itself when it's charging. Only when it's running on battery. Which leads me to believe that it can be remedied, though, I don't really know much about sleep/idle cycles and how they work.

I have had similar issues with the phone locking when the screen dims. There is no way to bring the phone back up without a battery pull. I reverted to factory multiple times and was able to push the restarts back a few days before they started happening again.

I can tell the phone is still on because the notification light will still blink, yet hitting the power button with not wake the phone. After rolling back to stock and not installing any apps (including no connection to e-mail) I found I did not have the issue. I waited several days at stock (only receiving texts and calls) and then brought all my apps back online and connected to my google account. This time I set all my e-mail apps to never refresh/update (so I'll have to do it manually). I have not had any issues with it so far but it has only been days.

When I first purchased it I would have random complete reboots as well. However this seems to have disappeared as well.

As an aside, I have had the issue of a unresponsive back button for up to 5 seconds, but it is not severe enough to warrant a return as of yet. I mention it in case others have the same issue and they are related.

I purchased the phone from amazon with a 3 year warranty package from squaretrade (great deal in my opinion). Since my 30 day with amazon is almost up I figure I still have my warranty if things go down hill (then all I have to do is prove it is a hardware issue and not software).

My phone specs:
Android Version: 2.2.2
Kernel: apps_2.6.32.9-perf
software ver: 1010_2_039
Back plate date: 09Jul11

I received my Triumph Tuesday (5 days ago) in the mail from Walmart.com. I expected battery life issues, but the phone shutting off when idle/sleeping was something I couldn't deal with having a hard case on all the time.

So Thursday I looked around to find a solution, and found one pretty quickly!

Follow this direction from here:
[Go] to settings, Wireless & Networks, Wi-Fi settings, Click Menu, Advanced, Wi-Fi sleep Policy - and make sure that the Wi-Fi Sleep Policy is checked to "Never".

It also significantly helps with battery life!
Hopefully this solves both issues for most! :)

Mine was doing the same thing... Randomly/frequently rebooting while unattended. Stock system... Only had it for one month. I keep background data off to save battery. Removing battery did not work. I changed the sleep setting on wifi as recommended in other post:

[Go] to settings, Wireless & Networks, Wi-Fi settings, Click Menu, Advanced, Wi-Fi sleep Policy - and make sure that the Wi-Fi Sleep Policy is checked to "Never".
and it immediately fixed the problem!

Now I love my phone again.... Thank you!
