Triumph vs. EVO 4G vs. Galaxy Prevail HELP!

Hello all! I currently own a Samsung Galaxy Prevail from boost mobile. It's running froyo and rooted with no problems. I am considering getting an HTC Evo 4g with gingerbread flashed to work with my boost mobile account. I also noticed the Triumph is pretty power packed as well.

I'm in a bit of a dilemma in that I don't know if I should go with the HTC EVO, The Triumph, or stick with my Galaxy Prevail until something new rolls around. My biggest concern is the that the EVO is flashed and I don't know how reliable that is in terms of future us. I don't want to wake up one day and not have my $300 Evo not work because of an update or something silly.

I weighed out some pros and cons to help decide and wanted to hear what the community has the say. Are you triumph owners happy? Would you rather have a Flashed Evo?

EVO 4G Pros:

The better phone from the 3 choices. Running Gingerbread. No wifi tether issues.

EVO 4G Cons:

It's flashed and I don't know how reliable that will be in the future in terms of continued service and updates.

Triumph Pros:

Better than my Galaxy Prevail. Not flashed.

Triumph Cons:

Not familiar with Virgin Mobile service (although it is Sprint who also owns Boost). Wifi tether issue (have to change MTU on client side). Not running gingerbread.

Having had an EVO 4G that was flashed over to MetroPCS, I can say that even though it was a nice phone, it failed miserably to meet my flashing addiction's needs There were only a few ROMs out there that would work on the MetroPCS network without fiddling around with things that I was not confortable with, and then those were only updated once every few months.

The low signal issues would have stopped me from going with Virgin Mobile if I had been aware of them, but I am hopeful that an update may resolve that... perhaps a new radio from Motorola will get it going better.

Don't get me wrong though, I am definitely not kicking myself in the rear end for having went with the Triumph... but I should have learned my lesson, to not go with a phone that is so brand new that the bugs haven't been worked out yet... Oh well - I've got it, and I'm about 95% happy with it.

So you experienced reception problems because of the flashed phone? It's my understanding that metroPCS is a horrible service to begin with. Are you sure this was a result of the phone and not the provider? Thanks for you input and I'd like to hear more.

The Evo had no signal issues - it's the triumph that does. It's just that there were minimal numbers of ROMs that would work with MetroPCS "out of the box" - the rest would work but would require some tinkering that I was not comfortable with.

MetroPCS in my area actually isn't a bad service - the only thing that kept me from going back to them this time around was the lack of an Android phone that was larger than 3.5" . I had when it first came out the Samsung Indulge 4G - the battery life was HORRIBLE but the phone was good as were the data speeds (for what it cost me). A full charge lasted me 6 hours AT BEST. Juice Defender helped, but the data connection was so slow to reconnect that it would not have come back on by the time Juice Defender thought it was time to shut it off again LOL!

NOW - having said that the Triumph has signal issues, I MUST say that I have YET to lose a call in the past month. I've used 1100+ minutes since August 4th.

I've heard a lot problems about the triumph so I think I'm starting to phase that out as one of the choices. Lots of people talking about a leaking screen and a bunch of other issues. I would like to get some input on people that have a flashed EVO on boost. How the signal is? Is it reliable? Great input though keep em coming.

Ok so here's an update. I bit the bullet and got myself and HTC Evo on boost. It cost me $280 for a brand new one flashed and ready to go with the same phone number. I LOVE the phone! It's running gingerbread and man is it smooth. Everything works great. I just have one very minor issue. When I get a voicemail the notification does not show up. I read this was a problem with Evos on boost running froyo but was fixed with gingerbread. I'm wondering if anybody has any input on this aside from getting a voicemail notifier app. I know it should work and there must be some setting I need to change. Thank you all for your input. So far I am very happy with the decision made. Will see in the long run.
