Help Trojan.androidos.plangton.a

Anyone else had to deal with a trojan on their android device??
Kaspersky flagged this one within an apk of the GalaxyS layout (I use GoLauncherX) so I've removed it but unlike with a computer, how do I know it's actually gone?

Not 100% sure, but you could try Avast (free on the market)... it can scan your phone... worth a try!!

if kaspersky found it on the PC theres a good chance that the mobile version will get it also. I have kaspesrky mobile and it updates and scans apps individually on install and to schedule, as well as having the security features.

Just a tip if you're in the uk and with barclays you get KIS and mobile free

I believe that, due to the way that Android works, a virus would not affect it in the same way as it would a windows computer.

It is possible to have malwear on the system though (which although not a virus, per se, is a virus-type program that can cause you issues). Malwear can steal valuable information - like this

It is always worth looking at the permissions an app is asking for before you download it - here is a useful app (by an AF staffer) that will let you check the permissions of all apps you currently have installed. It is also worth checking out http://androidforums.com/android-ap...explained-security-tips-avoiding-malware.html (a thread on the subject by the same staffer).

I would also recomend either Lookout Mobile or Avast - both of which I have used... currently using Avast, as it has some pretty cool anti-theft features built in too!

Avast found "android;Plangton-A" on my OptimusV. In 2 apps downloaded from market/playstore, "TikiGolf 3d Free" & "Running Fighter" were infected, I had Avast remove both apps that were not installed but were backed up on sd card via 'Android Assidtant+18" 's app backup utility pfogram.
What does this Plangton-A trojan do?
