Help Trouble downloading Apps

I'm new to the forum so forgive me if I'm going about this wrong.

I just got the HTC Desire and it will not download apps from the android market place. I can view Web pages, I can search for apps but when I select an app to download it stalls and states that it's "starting download." It doesn't progess beyond this point.

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

You're going about it just fine.

I've seen this periodically with the Market - busy server or something, who knows.

In my case, the problem clears up within a day.

And - you want to be sure that you're not in a fringe area, where maybe the connection is coming and going and breaking something... have you tried it with a good wifi connection to see if it helps in your case?

Finally - I'm not a Desire owner, so if you get advice from one of them here, trust them - you've found a great group of supportive users.

I find it a bit like looking after a baby...... Give it some time, maybe a little restart..... Uninstall those big heavy apps... Clear a little Chashe....

I have a Desire and had tis exact problem when I first had it....

My google account was a @googlemail.com one and what I did was to change it to a @gmail.com one, and add that new account to my phones settings..

I then turned off the sync to my @googlemail.com account and enabled it on my @gmail.com account.

Don't know if it'll work for you, but it seemed to for me...HTH

I had that problem with one app when I bought my Desire a month ago. Google Maps. I did a hard reset and that fixed the problem. Worth a shot.

Yeah, I don't know about the Desire, but with an Evo, sometimes a battery pull can square the Market away quickly - faster than a hard reset.

Don't know if it applies here or not, thought I'd toss it in.
