Root Trouble Flashing in HBOOT

Android Expert
I'm having trouble flashing a splash in HBOOT right now.

I downloaded the splash from XDA forums this morning and then I renamed it to "PC36IMG.zip" without the quotations. When I go to restart the phone in HBOOT, it does it's thing, finds the file says it's checking then it says "Parsing ... PC36IMG.zip" and then goes back to the homescreen of HBOOT. I tried again thinking that it might work a second time or I missed something but it still didn't work.

I restarted my phone thinking that this was just an error and went back into HBOOT after going to my Android "desktop". It did the same thing again.

Anyone have any ideas on why it's doing this and what I can do to fix it?

what splash screen is it? it could also be a bad download.

I forget where it came from. I accidentally Xed off the tab that it was in from XDA. It was just a simple black and white screen that said "HTC Evo 4G" except it was inverted than the original one. Nothing special lol

I know you can send splashes to your Evo via USB and command prompt but I can't find any tutorials on it on YouTube or anywhere on the net. Do you guys know of any tutorials that have it? I rooted using unrEVOked back in December and I know that makes a huge difference in the way you interact with your phone from your PC.

I'll try re-downloading it and seeing if it was just a bad download. I've flashed many splashes but never ran into this problem before.

Did you make sure the contents of the zip were the Android text file and Splash.img or boot.img or whatever you were flashing? If not why not flash in recovery?

most splash screens are installed via PC36IMG. some can be flashed from recovery. it depends on the splashscreen and how it is compiled.
