Root trouble rooting PLZ HELP!!!

Ok I think i erased all the system data and i cant get it back. I got the froyo info on my sdcard. I though I did everything right but i guess i didnt...The froyo screen shows up where i get the slider for sound and lock...then i unlock and all i get is a black screen...shows top bar with time...3g...battery life...and bars for service...thats it nothing else..can some one plz help.

A few questions:

- which Froyo ROM did you install?
- did you go to the wipe menu in recovery and choose the option "wipe data/factory reset"?

If you did not do the latter, restart in Recovery, do the wipe data option, and then go back to the main menu and restart the phone. See if that fixes it for you.

I did do the latter but i fixed it thank god...i just downloaded the old software and put it back on...but i wanna root it and use a froyo rom....can you point me in the right direction? thank you.

only problem im having at the moment is when i go to my browser its telling me to type characters below to show im not a robot...i type them and it just keeps coming back. any help?

I used the Universal One Click Root Method and this video tutorial. Good luck! Since I am new to rooting and Android, this really helped and was simple.
