I got my Nexus on 1/31.....there was an immediate update to 4.0.2 driving on the way home....after complete, I called my bank and wanted to check my bank balance....I kept getting a "invalid account error message" and never could access my account over the phone. Thought it was just the bank....the next day I had the same trouble w/ loging in to retrieve my voice mail...unable to do it. Called Verizon, they reset my pw and still couldn't. Apparently my phone wasn't the only one, they put my network card into another Nexus at Best Buy....same problem.

Also I couldn't nor could Best Buy reset the phone to factory condition....

No one had heard of this issue at Verizon and are sending me a replacement from a different warehouse....so hopefull this will be a fix. I should get my new phone today.

Anyone else hear of/have this problem? thanks, Cyn

Yes, I have the same problem and it is extremely frustrating. I got a replacement Nexus and I still have the same problem trying to log into my work voicemail or to conference calls where I need to enter a passwrd.

I had the same issue on my OG droid but that has a physical keyboard I could use to enter the password. There is no such option on the Nexus and its a big issue for me. It's probably cost me 2 hrs of time in the past 2 weeks trying to get around this issue.

Verizon or someone needs to address this.

Anyone have suggestions or a fix?

Are you trying to type in numbers with the speakerphone on? I have noticed that problem. Try turning off your speaker while typing in numbers to see if that helps. It works for me.

ok, that DID work, but if I brought it up to my ear too quick extra key were pressed by my ear....held it off my ear for a second, but close enough that I could hear...that worked too.

Bottom line there shouldn't be an issue, my old moto droid and new Razr didn't have that problem. When there are a LOT of options, it get's old not using the speaker.

I'm getting a new sim chip tomorrow morning....the new/refurbished Nexus was shipped from Verizon (I thought I was getting a new one) did the same thing. It's important that everyone let Verizon know about this issue and possibly Samsung can correct it w/ a firmware update or something similar, Cyn

Oh, DUH, I just read the post again, just need to shut the speaker off while entering the digits then turn the speaker back on. I've not had trouble ever w/ anything requiring a "1" option, but have w/ "5" while calling into Verizon services.

Thank you so much, I can live w/ that until Samsung comes up w/ a fix, Cyn

New sim card came this morning....no change, but at least Verizon is aware of the issue as they weren't last week...I can relax more and quit pitching a fit :O), thanks again for the fix, Cyn

jbarhorst2 you are the man!! (or woman?)

i just tried this and it worked like a charm! the issue plagued me from my OG Droid days. its only natural to put the phone on speaker when you take it away from your ear. but im glad i finally found a solution.

thank you!!!

Probably software update. They would just need to program the microphone to ignore sounds when sending DTMF tones. I haven't tried it, but I wonder if turning off the tones in settings works too. I will try that sometime.

I remember seeing a DTMF tones somewhere, might be my Razr I had just before the Nexus, but I'd like to try the switch to see if there is a difference, thanks, Cyn

For voicemail, by the way, get Google Voice and have it pull your voicemails into the visual voicmail inbox. No more dialing in. Voicemails transcribed and played at the touch of a button.

OK. I tested it by turning the touch tone sounds off and you do not have to turn off the speakerphone and it still works. I, however, would rather hear the sounds so for now it is better for me to just turn off the speakerphone when typing the tones.

As far as Google Voice, there is something about Verizon that is not totally compatible. You cannot send your Verizon number directly to Google Voice and have it properly recognized. So, for me, it didn't work out the best.
