Root Trouble with partitioning SD card using xrecovery

I am trying to partition my SD card so that I can install apps on it. My details are given below:

Are you sure you're using the latest version?

I wouldn't be overly keen on using recovery tools to partition SD Cards (or partitioning them at all actually), so I'd recommend doing it with Windows.

I second that advice. You can't do it with windows alone, since you'll want to have an ext (Linux) partition, which Windows can't create. This partition manager is free and I used it to partition my cards:
