Lurker
When i put in the code : "adb push bootanimation.zip \data\local\" it says that there is no device found, but my phone is conmected and it is in debbuging mode. so i dont know whut to do..??any idea?

Why would it affect your service? Your just changing the animation.
You may be the master of root and ROMs but the OP is new the this from the sounds of things. He is just asking a question.

Rooting of the phone, if done correctly doesn't really change anything in your day to day use of the phone.

If for some reason you need to take the phone back because the phone is not working right(not do to something you did) then it would be a good idea to put everything back the way it was when you first got it. MacFett is absolutely right. If you study all the posts in the ROMTools thread before you use it it will give you a better understanding of what to do and not do. If you still have questions about changing the boot animation, ask them in the "All Things Root" subforum. You questions on boot animation will be best answered there.

This is not true. I've done it to my unrooted OG Droid and unrooted Xoom. You can use adb to push to /data/local.

adb push bootanimation.zip /data/local

Okay, but what do you do after you've pushed the bootanimation file to this directory? The VM ROM still looks for the file in the standard directory not /data/local.

The reason Why you need to be rooted is because you need to change the /system/media folder from r/o to r/w in order to put the boot animation in the folder and delete the other. With the Otimus V this is where the boot animation needs to go, on the system which is r/o all the time to non root users.
ROMTools when it was supported (now it's a dead thread with dead links) would allow you to gain temporary root access (shell root) which went away on rebooting the phone.

This is why we have device specific forums. All phones are not created the same. What works for a OG Droid and a Zoom might not work on other phones.
