Root Trying to get Beta key for Root

I am at the step where I need to connect my evo 4g and run the Revolutionary to find out what my beta key is. I have waited over 45 minutes and the program still says detecting device. Am I doing anything wrong? I am following the step by step guide.

go back and look at the guide. you should have done these things prior:
load the drivers mentioned
put the super user .zip on your sd card.

I found out that I forgot to put my phone in debug mode haha.
