Help Trying to go back to 2.1

I'm trying to go back to 2.1...so then I can get the update etc now that I found out I wont be able to if I'm on the fake 2.2...

my problem is when I go into download mode on my phone my computer doesn't read it, I'm using windows 7 64-bit which I heard has problems, but it's the only computer I have access to..

Anyone got any ideas on how to rebuild it? Is there a zip update file to just install like when installing 2.2??

I have Windows 7 64bit and used http://androidforums.com/epic-4g-support-troubleshooting/232733-if-you-unrooted-need-help-going-back-di18-eclair.html. It worked like a charm.

Other things to check...

1.) Did you download and install the correct 64bit drivers before trying mode?
2.) Try using the USB cable that Samsung provided. My computer will not recognize my phone with any other cable.
3.) Try using a USB port on the back of your computer and not the front.

What makes you think people on DK28 won't be able to get the official update? Has Sprint/Samsung said anything to that effect?

Last I checked it was unknown.
