Help Trying to help a friend with flashed phone

Hope someone can help. My friend got a Verizon LG Ally and took it to a store to have it flashed over for cricket. I have an Huawei Ascend that I just rooted and installed the 2.3.4, so I dont know how to fix his problem. All of a sudden the Lock screen is no longer working, so when his phone is in his pocket, he is constantly calling someone. But since it was flashed over to cricket, would he just be able to do a Factory Reset and resolve this, or does his phone need to be re-rooted and completly flashed again the right way? Please help as he is frustrating the heck out of me. he isnt very phone savy in the first place. but his personality makes up for it. :D
