Root Trying to make a transparent notification bar

Hoping someone might have some insight on this one. I'm trying to make the top notification bar semi transparent. I have it just where I want it except for one problem. It's only transparent on the lock screen. Once I unlock the phone, it goes back to being all solid black.

Would any of you theme guys have any idea why this happens? Is it some setting in one of the .xml files that causes this?

Would love to figure it out because it looks kind of cool being semi transparent.
 
i tried this, and from what i remember. is that it IS transparent, it seems like it isnt because you see whats underneath it. i saw when at my home screen it would be transparent but when in different apps it would be white or black. i COULD be wrong, just how i remember it when i had tried
 
It is actually transparent. It just doesn't work with static wallpapers. Try a live wallpaper and you'll see what I mean. And if you just dont want a live wallpaper because you like the static one you've chosen, then get 'Multi Picture Live Wallpaper' (i think)frome the market.

The wallpaper isn't the issue, its actually the launcher you are more than likely using. Launcher Pro will never show your notification bar as semi/transparent with it. I've gotten it to work using adw and adwex as well as the stock launcher. On ADW/EX I enabled or disabled(not sure, simple test for ya) wallpaper hack and it worked.

TL;DR

STOP USING LAUNCHER PRO PLUS
 
When I tried it (back with Punisher 0.1 on Android version 2.1update1) I was using Launcher pro. I dont even like adw, I use GoLauncher right now.
 
how do you specify transparent notification bar in UOT Kitchen?? the status bar category is a little confusing.
