Root Trying to root

Im trying to set up my computer to root my droid, and am running into some issue trying to rename my c:\ drive, or whatever the technical term for it is. I typed in cmd in the run part of windows XP, then the black box comes up and it says: "c:\Documents and Settings\Andrew>"

What do I type in here? and what am I doing?

What do I type in here? and what am I doing?

to get to the C: directory you can type "cd.." into that cmd area.

Each time you type that it will go back one directory, so it appears you will type it and hit enter, then type it again and hit enter.
