Help Trying to Sync Outlook Calendar

I am trying to sync my Outllook and my phone can't locate HTC Sync on my computer even though I have it open.
If I download the Google Sync will it copy all my dates and details I have over to my phone?

Did you select HTC Sync on the phone when you connect the usb?

As far as Google Sync, I've never used it, but thats what its supposed to do.

Thanks I tried it several times and it finaly said connected and syncted everything.
