I'm having a problem with Tasker's TTS functionality on my GSM Nexus, but I don't believe it's a Tasker issue. In fact, I had similar problems on my Bionic, and with 3rd party ROMs on my OG Droid.
When I try to select an Engine and Voice for use with Tasker's "say" action, I can pick the engine without a problem. But then, instead of getting a list of installed voices to choose from, Android presents the "Manage Google Text-to speech voi..." screen (which can also be reached by Settings > Language & input > Text-to-speech output > Google Text-to-speech settings > Install voice data.
The problem I have is that US English is already installed (or at least Google Navigation works fine, as does Tasker if I type eng-USA in the Engine:Voice field for the "say" action). In fact, English isn't even an option on the screen that's presented - my choices are: German, Spanish, French and Italian. I don't speak any of these languages and don't think I should have to install them just to get Android to tell Tasker US English is available. (Installing all available language data was the only way to get it to work on my Bionic, which is why I expect it would work in this case). I just think it's stupid that the only way to use what's already installed is to install other stuff that I'll never use.
Any suggestions on how I can get this to work as expected without installing the additional languages?
