Help Turn 4G scan off??

Hey everyone! I have a Droid X phone so I'm new to the Sprint Evo. My dad has this phone, however, and has noticed that 4G keeps scanning.

Is there a way to turn this 4G scan off? He found a menu area for this but can't actually uncheck anything, just can tell it to scan.

I'm sure this constant scan for a 4G signal is draining the battery. I did a quick search and couldn't find anything online or on the forums. Just figured I would go directly to the experts

yes go into wireless settings screen and uncheck the 4G box...

Try rebooting the phone and then unchecking 4G.

Some 4G settings can only be manipulated while connected to a 4G network, though I don't think the one you are trying to uncheck in one of them.

If the reboot doesn't help, call Sprint.

Reboot didn't work. Did a battery pull as well just to see but nothing. Looks like I'll have to tell him to call Sprint
