Turn by Turn GPS

Hi All,

Looking to get rid of the iPhone 4 and move to a Desire HD. I've been reading the manual and Quick start guide to answer most questions.

In the quick start guide it does mention if you want turn by turn GPS you need to purchase it seperately?

Question i have is, is that purchase to open up the turn by turn functionality of the phone or just to use HTC's own version of a NAV app? I don't want to pay X amount of $$ to unlock the function then pay another XX amount of $$ to buy a Nav app like Sygic or Navigon.

Thanks

There are 2 options on the dhd the first is the free navigation that is powered by google I think this takes a bit of getting used to or there is a premium navigaton on the phone in the car panel powered by route 66 you get a 30 day trial by the looks not sure on costs after that because I've only just set it up myself .

There's a 3rd option, which is "location" which is stand alone GPS maps loaded onto your phone (no connection needed)... This isn't really worth using unless you're out of radio range though as it's laggy.

The standard google navigation is pretty good, turn by turn voice etc for free, the premium has the same basic functions but adds on speed and a new interface.. not sure what else

i have sygic and its really good. also tried aura trial which looked pretty awesome to me. premium navigation didnt cut for me even though it is a paid app...
