Root Turn off 4g

To turn off your Mobile Network you can go into Settings > Wireless & Networks > Mobile Networks, then uncheck it...

Otherwise if you are looking for a setting to just turn off 4G not 3G you could always go into your Mobile Network settings and change the radio frequencies to only be CDMA ( Verizon & Sprint )

Lastly, you could try this app: 4G Toggle
 
download this and move it to /system/app/ and reboot the phone, than long press on the home screen and make status switch a widget and you can toggle on and off the 4G.

To save battery when you don't want to be connected to the internet, to prevent programs from connecting to the internet while you adjust certain files, and many other reasons.

Ok. That would be turning of data. I thought he meant just 4g. I have tried using just the CDMA network and I could not tell a difference between the 2.
